This season we see a slightly different Barcelona. New trainer, slightly new style of play and … for the first time, the team issued a third jersey instead of recycling the previous away jersey. Given the abominal nature of the previous away jersey, this was a good move and we are treated with a quite simple jersey:
It looks pretty much like the away jersey from the 2011/12 season: plain black with a round collar. Not the most original choice, but much better as a third jersey than for an away jersey (Barca’s home jerseys are rather dark, after all). Everything is nicely placed here, but I again do not like that the sponsor is applied in a different color. Why not yellow? Speaking of which, it is hard to see on the pictures, but there are yellow stripes running down the sides.
On the back everything is applied in yellow and we have seen this arrangement on all jerseys since the 2012/13 season. Nothing new. On the back of the collar is also the other accent on this shirt: the Catalan flag.
Plain and simple. Black is maybe not a color that is associated with the Catalan giants, but it does an OK job. I probably would have left out the yellow stripes on the side and made the sponsor yellow. Other than that, this one is good, but not spectacular.
My rating: 7/10 stars.
How do you rate this shirt?
