Olympiacos FC (Away 2013/14)

The biggest surprise of the firs leg of second round play in the Champions League was without doubt the 2-0 win of Greek champions Olympiacos over Manchester United. While not entirely a shocker due to the lack of form of the English champions, it still came rather unexpected. But maybe this is Olympiacos’ time to shine.

Olympiakos-2013-away

The current away shirt is a black (navy?) jersey with a V-neck collar and some red accents. These are applied as stripes running down the shoulder and one on the right side running parallel to the shoulder stripe towards the armpit. There are also red bands around the sleeve trims. Between the two red stripes on the right stripe we find the Puma logo which for that reason is running a bit high. Other than that, the sponsor and the club’s crest are appropriately placed. As with the home jersey, Olympiacos proudly displays the UNICEF logo as part of supporting the 100% vaccination campaign of UNICEF. Fortunately, on this jersey the logo is applied in white making things look quite well.

In the Greek Super League, the names are applied of course in (lower-case) Greek, but in a similar style as the corresponding Latin letters. Meaning, not that good, especially considering the numbers. Fortunately, as we already know, Puma has issued a much more classic font on their current line of jerseys, so you won’t have me complain about that font anymore (well, there are some Puma jerseys I still have to cover for the 2013/14 season).

The asymmetrical striping may look odd, but it does not really bother me that much. Overall, I think this is a nice looking modern jersey.

My rating: 7/10 stars.

How do you rate this shirt?
